Frequently asked questions
When do I need a GST number?
You must register once your taxable sales go over $30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over the last four consecutive quarters. You can also register earlier voluntarily to claim GST on your business costs.
What rate do I charge customers in other provinces?
Once registered, you generally charge the rate of the province where the goods are delivered. For example, 5% GST to a customer in Alberta and 13% HST to a customer in Ontario.
